COVID19 has absolutely decimated the events and physical networking industry, but helped give rise to virtual seminars or “webinars.” Every time I’m online, I’m innundated by ads asking me to attend the premiere webinar for insert industry here. It’s no surprise that a client came to me soon enough with the exact same requirements, and my immediate thought was the need give it a distinct and memorable key visual.
I knew that something simple and generic would get drowned out. I thought about it, and decided to play with the core idea of using QR codes to simplify payments in a traditionally cash-and-cheque niche, taking inspiration from the main PayNow QR codes that would power the underlying technology (and webinar). I then went about crafting, block per block, a QR emblem/logo as the main representation of the webinar, that was visually recognizable to anyone who saw it.
This served as the campaign key visual and went into the actual Webinar, ads, EDMs and of course, associated landing pages.
